Project Management, Procurement and Implementation:
Created a network of entities who became licensee of European
trademarks in the household appliances industry including Zerowatt
and Smeg within the Middle East region.
Assisted the European manufacturers to evaluate the licensees’
manufacturing capability, financial strength and, depending
in which country the licensee was located, assisted the European
Companies to evaluate the country’s political risk factors,
banking structures and importation laws.
Assisted the licensees by overseeing the preparation of
a multi-phase business plan which included expansion of their
manufacturing capability, preparation of a detailed marketing
plan which included evaluating brand equity, deciding which
segment of the market they should position their products for
and how to set up their advertising scheme.
Facilitated the licensor in setting up their supply chain
management, contracting with different retailers in different
regions for selling their goods exclusively and created a network
of servicing agents for their aftersale servicing.

Project Management and Investment Promotion:
An example of a successful project management and investment
promotion project is a Pipe Coating Project in which a joint
venture Company was created between two Middle Eastern companies
and a European provider of powder coating for the sole purpose
of doing pipe coating for the petroleum industry using 3M coating
powder.
Assisted Asian based real estate projects in seeking foreign
investment and management.
Agribusiness Project Development & Management:
Contracted by Egyptian company to produce and implement
a Rehabilitation and Organizational Restructuring plan for an
integrated Cotton, Sorghum and Wheat company in Sudan. Consisted
of an integrated agricultural enterprise of 100,000 acres with
production, ginning, milling and marketing internationally.
Under contract Reviewed, Managed Acquisition and Operated
Agribusiness Investments for a $2 billion investment fund. Operated
90,000 acres of high-quality cotton, wheat, corn, soybean, rice,
and livestock farms, property acquisition review, investment
analysis, operation review of portfolio, liquidation or rehabilitation
of underperforming assets, and performance. Increased performance
and improved overall quality of the portfolio and introduced
new businesses with higher returns.
Developed and implemented a restructuring plan of a Texas
integrated vegetable growing and processing enterprise for the
Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Court. Included assets in Mexico and the
U.S.
Under contract to a U.S. Seed Company, developed and implemented
a plan to establish and implement a seed production unit at
multiple locations in Mexico to diversify seed production in
years of drought in the U.S.
Through contract to the Soviet Gosagroprom Minister prepared
a feasibility study and developed a multi-year implementation
plan for a large U.S. agricultural services firm to provide
modern agribusiness management, technical farming skills, state-of-the-art
production processing operations and improved production inputs
utilization on every integrated large scale kombinaat throughout
the Soviet Union.
Privatization, Investment and Restructuring:
Contracted for Privatization and Assistance in Restructuring
of Parastatal Organizations consisting of agribusiness assets
consisting of 110,000 acres of arable land, rice mills, maize
mills, grain storage, livestock enterprises and vegetable farming
in Nigeria.
Contracted by Ghanaian company for Large-Scale Agricultural
company Privatization, Rehabilitation, Technical Assistance
in Operations and Organizational Restructuring for an Agricultural
complex consisting of 25,000 irrigated acres with maize and
sorghum storage and distribution through proprietary channels.
We were retained by the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture
and a large international irrigation manufacturer to conduct
a Privatization Feasibility and Land Use Analysis for Restructuring,
Privatization and Divestment of a reconstituted state farm.
The investment plan for the land development was implemented,
a series of privatization schemes were considered, and a plan
was undertaken. The land development was completed, a privatization
plan was implemented with improved feasibility for sale to one
of 5 investors who were bidding at the time the project was
completed.
For the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, we developed a
corporate restructuring plan followed by privatization by the
Department of Reclamation and then divestiture. The completed
plan for Salhia was a three-year program with implementation
targets for the restructuring and the privatization. The restructuring
was implemented immediately and was largely completed within
18 months when the Government rejected the plan for privatization
but offered no alternatives, with the result that 8 years later
the large investment was still state owned and operated, more
effectively because of the restructuring, but at a loss because
of the poor operation.
Business & Enterprise Development or Sale:
On behalf of Investor and Operator provided management and
growth advisory to a Farm Management, Investment Advisory and
Land Acquisition company providing diversified agribusiness
services in the Midwest. Sold to a National Real Estate Chain
Company when overall viability was proven.
At the request of a group of private investors a turnaround
program was implemented for the Agricultural Services Firm they
had just purchased. The company was the largest, and oldest,
Farm Management company in the U.S. with 25 offices and 400,000
acres nationwide under management. The company had just come
off 3 years of large operating losses, the turnaround effort
scaled down the company and at the end of 3 years it produced
the largest profit in its history for two consecutive years.
Investment & Trade Promotion:
Organized and executed Au trade from Asia to Middle East.
Negotiation and management of joint ventures for US based
entities within Asia.
At the request of the Polish Prime Minister a project to
develop a practical private sector training program for specialists
in marketing, market assessment, and distribution in the food
sector was developed. The objective of the project funded by
multi-lateral donor was to improve private sector marketing
and business management skills in the food sector.
Conducted a Market Assessment and then developed an Agricultural
Market Development Design for the Polish Senate Agricultural
Committee. The plan focused on intermediary trading functions
in a commercialized agribusiness sector. It included basic training
in international business and marketing for young managers.
Business & Investment Analysis:
Auditing and consulting services for major municipal organizations,
like the City of Los Angeles, performing financial and single
audits.
Performed an investment analysis and portfolio audit of
$175 million of agribusiness assets for an insurance company.
The portfolio included mortgages and property to be appraised,
reviewed for long-term investment value, with recommendations
for status.
Litigation support for top 50 law firms regarding multinational
cases.
A production and investment plan for Integrated Swine Production
was researched and developed for a large U.S. feed company as
a means of developing a committed market for their feed.
Undertook a feasibility study, business and investment plan,
and market assessment for FMC INTL AG food equipment manufacturing
company. The program for Vegetable Production and Frozen Processing
at APK Kuban in Krasnodar Kray and ultimate Export of the Finished
Product is funded by FMC's European Bank. The project is a 10,000
Ha irrigated vegetable production unit with a $17 million frozen
food plant. The export contract was met, the restructuring plan
was implemented, but the government rejected the long term privatization
plan so after 7 years the plant was repaid by exports and FMC
is not obligated to continue to operate or maintain the export
production.
Enterprise & Private Sector Development:
Identified opportunities in the Agribusiness Sector of Egypt
for inward foreign investment. An Embassy was interested in
encouraging investment via the investment plans we developed
for 12 viable business opportunities.
A Study Tour was planned and organized for the RSFSR Ministry
of Agriculture to include Minister Kulik and the General Directors
of the four largest kombinaats in the RSFSR. The three week
plan included government, agribusiness, and education/extension
resources in Washington, D.C., Illinois, Minnesota, and California.
A three-year contract for Privatization Support and Technical
Assistance in Market Development was implemented with GOSAGROPROM.
